Every day, thousands of people around the world die due to a lack of clean water. One billion people in our world do not have access to safe drinking water, which not only means sickness and death — it means they are trapped in a cycle of poverty that cannot be broken until the water crisis is solved. Without clean water, sanitation is not possible, which means health care is not viable, which means people cannot learn, which means people cannot work and build the economy, which means the poor stay poor — indefinitely.
Thankfully, there is something that you and I can do to help. The Wells Project at Texas A&M University sponsors a yearly initiative known simply as “The 10 Days.” The challenge is to make water your only beverage for 10 days, and then to give the money you would have spent on other drinks during that time to Living Water International. Every dollar you give goes directly to helping solve the water crisis in Rwanda. The goal for 10 Days participants nationwide is $100,000. At the end of the 10 Days, you may submit your donation online directly to Living Water here, or you may bring check or cash to New Life on Sunday, October 23rd and we will mail one check to Living Water on behalf of all who donated.
Be sure to go to the 10 Days site to learn more, let them know you are participating, and spread the word through social media outlets.
